Red Bull Canimation
I have just come across this competition for Red Bull. Whether its stop motion, CGI, or a hand rendered approach, red bull want you to create an advert using their can. The logos and resources are available to download on the website.
http://canimation.redbull.co.uk/.
The deadline is November so its not long, if I can get my camera lens replaced in time I might give it a go. Would be really good to work on another motion piece.

Midnight in Paris
I went to see the film Midnight in Paris today with my mum. After the first three minutes of the film I was already remembering how much I loved Paris and how I would love to live there! It is filmed in the most romantic way and I absolutely loved the 1920s set! The film was written and directed by Woody Allen and it really tested my knowledge of literature and art! The characters included Ernest Hemingway, Pablo Picasso, T.S. Eliot, Dali, Toulouse-Lautrec... the list is endless! It is a very strange and a bit silly storyline, but if you love Paris, go and watch this film. You can watch the trailer here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLHPbV7b9nU
Kerning Nerd
Came across this typography game on Pecan Pie blog, where you have to correct the kerning on the words. I always thought I was terrible at typography but managed to score 95... must have been a one off fluke! http://type.method.ac/

Habibis
How stunning was Sophie Habibis this weekend on the X factor? Her make over transformation was one of the best out of the 16 finalists, her dark hair and fringe really suit her face and bring out her eyes. Her gold eyeshadow was stunning, her eyes looked huge, and to top it off she has the most beautiful voice, singing a Katy Perry cover. Watch her performance here http://youtu.be/fshrfvlhzG8?hd=1&t=8s. Definitely one of my favorites in the competition. Was really sad to see James Michael leave last night, X factor is getting so harsh!

Bristol Times
Last weekend I went to visit everyone in Bristol. I was lucky and managed to book the whole weekend off, and it turned out to be an Autumn heat wave! I stayed with my sister Sophie over the weekend in her halls, it was weird being back, made me feel really old! I had the chance to visit the girls new house, and got to see little Toulouse again! I miss that little lady. Alice finally joined the world of mac, and we were very excited to listen to Ben Howard's new album, which by the way is amazing, a must have. We went out to celebrate our friend Rachel's birthday, and spent the weekend lazing around St Andrews park in the sunshine. Was a great weekend, and went far too quickly! I miss Bristol. Need to start planning my next visit.
Thursday
Thank you Steve
I woke up this morning to the sad new of Steve Job's death. Steve was the co founder of Apple and Pixar, two amazing companies. He was one of the greatest thinkers, speakers and inventors ever. His innovation changed the way we see our lives, I don't know what I would do without my macbook laptop, imac, ipod ect. Not only are the products designed beautifully but they are so easy to use! The apple website have this photo on their webpage as a tribute to Steve. "Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world lost an amazing human being." RIP Steve Jobs.

Paint Powder and Bubbles
BT Visions TV on demand service has recently been rebranded by Man Vs Machine in collaboration with Proud Creative. I really like the high speed photography by Jason Tozer, it is very similar to the Sound Sculptures project I blogged about last year by Dentsu London. Below is a video showing three of the idents, Paint, Bubbles and powder which have been photographed in high speed.

You can create your profile to be a representation of your work and skills, and interact with other people interested in similar areas. If you have signed up already follow me at http://www.skillpages.com/rosie.slade.

Emma Van Leest
Stumbled across another amazing paper artist called Emma Van Leest. She has an incredible amount of work, check out her website to see how intricate her pieces are. http://www.emmavanleest.com/home/ She has a wide variety of work including commercial design, and has even made her own range of jewellery. The stainless steel earrings and pendants are beautiful, I really want them! They are a little pricey though so will have to save up.
You can see her shop here http://www.polli.com.au/.

Ben Howard
Ben Howard's album is coming out next week, I'm so excited! He has such a beautiful unique voice, I really enjoyed listening to his EP over and over back when we had our last deadline for uni. His music bring back memories of extremely late nights working with Ellie and Pete!
His Debut album is called Every Kingdom and is out on the 3rd October. I have high expectations for this album. You can listen to a teaser here

New Bed
Finally got myself a double bed at home. I'd had the same old single bed in this room for years and it really was time for a new one. I'd forgotten how small my room at home is though, it taken me ages to properly unpack after moving home. I'm looking forward to a good nights sleep tonight at last!

Little Post
Now that I am living in London, Ellie and I thought it would be nice to continue her post project and write to each other. She sent me a beautiful little package recently with goodies inside
http://rosieslade.blogspot.com/2011/08/exciting-post.html and we also sent postcards from our holidays. My letter was only little but I had so much to write inside! Looking forward to going back to Bristol next weekend to have a proper catch up with all my friends!

Dive Display
Came across this video on the Crystal Palace Diving Team's website. The dives are incredible, they all land on the same spot and it gets much more complicated and faster! The chinese divers dive with such precision, they look like they just hang in the air. I'm wondering if my boss has new ideas for our team's diving display at competitions...
One Day
I read One Day on holiday this year, it was such a lovely book, I really enjoyed reading it. There had been a lot of hype about the book and film recently so thought I'd get involved. The film lived up to my expectations, and was pretty accurate to the book. It was beautifully filmed and Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess do a great job of being Em and Dex (even if Anne's accent is a bit dodgy to begin with). The story follows these two characters over 20 years showing how their lives are connected. We see what they are up to each year on the same day since they met at graduation. The story reminds me a little of 500 days of summer, where it is not a typical love story. Em and Dex are not a couple throughout and the storyline is very frustrating and emotional. I enjoyed the film but would recommend reading the book first.

Turkey - Turgutries 2011
Merhaba, haven't been on blogger for a whlie! Since graduating I have moved back to London and am working for Crystal Palace diving Team. Its been a pretty busy summer, but had a break to enjoy another holiday in Turkey!
We went to Turgutreis this year, I'm falling in love with Turkey more and more each year. We enjoyed two weeks of sunshine, swimming in the beautiful sea, diving off boats and into wishing caves, learning backgammon, drinking apple tea, eating amazing food with beautiful sunsets, and lots and lots of cocktails! Can't wait till I get the chance to go back.
