Now that I am living in London, Ellie and I thought it would be nice to continue her post project and write to each other. She sent me a beautiful little package recently with goodies inside
http://rosieslade.blogspot.com/2011/08/exciting-post.html and we also sent postcards from our holidays. My letter was only little but I had so much to write inside! Looking forward to going back to Bristol next weekend to have a proper catch up with all my friends!

Exciting Post!
Was very excited to come home from work the other day to find this beauty had come through the post. My friend Ellie had posted me a letter with little goodies inside! Her final major project had been about post and we wanted to continue it on. Mail art is so much more exciting and a really nice way to keep in contact now that I have moved away from bristol. My reply will have to travel from Turkey as I go on holiday today for two weeks!

Deficient Postage
Ellie's most recent mail art finally arrived! We were worried it had got lost somewhere in the post. I had seen it on her blog but I didn't actually realize how big it was! The postal service now charge by size instead of weight so it turned out Ellie was actually 12p short! The mail art got sent to a delivery office where I had to go and pick it up for £1.12p! Also, my last piece of mail art to Ellie did arrive all in one piece. The photo at the bottom is from Ellie's blog showing my piece, and only the bottom corner had been bent.

Mail Art for Ellie
So I am on easter break now, and get to spend a few weeks at home in London. I thought it would be a good chance to help my friend Ellie out with her post project. She made me a piece of mail art last time I was at home, so I made one back. I wanted to challenge the postal system a bit so i used different paper to partly cover up the address. The postman will need to interact with the piece in order to deliver it. I hope it gets to her!

Mail Art
A few weeks ago Ellie made me a piece of mail art and sent it to my London address. Unfortunately I had already come back to Bristol by the time it had arrived at home! But today it finally came back through the post to my Bristol address. Ellie is trying to challenge the postal system and making the addresses a bit more difficult to read, some of them are delivered properly but others can take a while longer.
Check out her blog to see more post related art work.

Post for Ellie
My friend Ellie is looking at Post for her Self Directed Study. She has been getting a bit stuck recently as many of her letters are not being returned in the post. I thought I would help her out a bit so while she was away in London for the weekend, I left all my notes to her in letter form rather than a text or facebook message. She was very excited when she got back and enjoyed searching the house for the little letters. Plus it gave me an excuse to make little envelopes, which I love.
Wednesday
I've Got Mail
I was very excited yesterday to receive my first post in the new house, it was a lovely little package from my friend jennie. She saw these beautiful hand made ceramic buttons in the gallery where she works back home in oxford and bought me a few. It was a great way to start my day, i love them. I'm starting to get a nice little collection of buttons now. its all Ellie's fault, she is obsessed with them!
Sunday
The mixtape project
I recently stumbled upon this great blog. Im thinking of joining up when i am back from my holiday. I love making playlists and it will be great fun to turn them into mixed cd's for people and then i would receive one each month too! There is a flikr site set up with photos from all the mixtapes given. Some of them look really lovely. http://sharingthemusic.wordpress.com/
