Finished Motion Piece!

I have finally finished my motion piece! One thing ticked off my list for deadline!Through the Viewfinder is an exploration into photographic processes and the development of technology. The project focuses on looking at ways to change traditional photographic methods into digital pieces. The experiment shows a documentary being played from a laptop through four different lenses to show the transition from traditional cameras to digital.

Viewfinder Photos

I have continued my 'Through the Viewfinder' project for my self directed study. I photographed my motion piece today and am in the process of editing and animating. Watch this space for the finished motion piece.

Sunday

Viewfinder Project Development

I am continuing my 'through the viewfinder' project as part of my Self Directed Study. I was looking at original photographic processes and the development of technology from traditional cameras to digital cameras. I have decided to photograph my subject through as many different lenses to show this transition. This experiment shows a film being played from a laptop through the lenses of four cameras. It needs a lot of development but Iintend to use a higher quality digital camera and zoom lens and photograph a motion piece through different lenses.

Through the viewfinder

I have collected and borrowed cameras with large viewfinders to experiment for my self directed project. I am looking at photography and ways to change traditional methods into digital pieces. I have made cardboard tunnels covering the viewfinders and used my digital camera to photograph down them. My first experiments were not so successful, the lens i was using was very sensitive to movement and kept focussing on the cardboard instead of the viewfinder. I want to develop this process further and make a motion piece.

Viewfinder

For my self directed study i am looking at photography and ways to change traditional methods into digital pieces. Here are a few of my first experiments of digital photographs looking through the view finder of a traditional camera. It was quite tricky to focus the lens in the dark cardboard tunnel but the blurry photos have a lovely quality to them still.
