Dance the Decades Booklet

I am entering my work for the YCN student awards tomorrow. For the brief I have decided to focus on the Dance the Decades booth to communicate the essence of the British Music Experience. My idea is to encourage visitors to get involved and be creative at home. It would give them the opportunity to create their own stop motion experience at home. I have designed this booklet to support my motion piece, and it gives simple instructions of how to do it.

You can see my motion piece on my vimeo page. http://www.vimeo.com/17857904

Sunday

YCN student awards

So I have decided to enter my Dance the Decades project in to the YCN student awards. The brief was to develop a digital campaign that communicates the richness of the British Music Experience museum to new visitors.

You can see my motion piece here http://www.vimeo.com/17857904. Along side I need to produce a pdf document with my pitch, and a supporting booklet to show how people at home can make their own versions. Here are a couple of spreads so far.

Thursday

Dance the Decades

Brief: To develop a digital campaign that communicates the richness of the British Music Experience museum to new visitors.

One of the aspects of the museum was a dance booth where visitors get the chance to learn and perform dances through the decades. This stop motion recreates my experience of the dance booth using over 150 cut outs.

Friday

Army of Rosie's

Starting to get sick of my own face! I have finished most of the photographs for this British Music Experience project now, and need to finish editing the motion piece next week.

Monday

BME Motion Set Up

I photographed a quick little set up to test my stop motion piece for the British Music Experience YCN brief. Each cut out was labelled and placed in order to make it easier to animate.

Big Army

So my army of little Rosie's has expanded.. a lot! I have made a few more tests for my motion piece, but the final will need around 300 cut outs. there is something really nice about the collection of all the cut outs and im hoping to extend this work further.. if i have time. (This piece is for the British Music Experience YCN brief and focuses on the dance booth at the exhibition).

Thursday

Dancing Motion Test

Here is my first test for the British Music Experience brief. I decided to focus on the dancing booth at the exhibition and recreated a small animation of myself dancing the hand jive. I used around 100 paper cut outs to create this stop motion.

Wednesday

Dancing Motion Piece

For the British Music Experience brief, i have focused on the dancing section of the exhibition. This is work in preparation of a motion piece. I photographed myself dancing the hand jive, edited and printed the photos, hand cut each photo individually and attached cardboard to make them stand up. I now have a little army of people, its quite scary! Im photographing them again to create a stop motion piece. Tests will be posted soon.

Monday

British Music Experience

I have started a new ycn brief for uni, which involves creating an online campaign for the British Music Experience. The exhibition is in the bubble space at the o2 arena in London, i visited it at the weekend with my mum. The exhibition was really interesting, it was full of memorabilia and is a very interactive experience with games, dances and you can even play the instruments. My mum was very excited by the beatlemania room where as i was more interested in spice girls outfits! There is lots to see, so definitely check it out.
